Does my dog have cancer or not?
14 year old German Shepherd mix: Several weeks ago, he was so anemic that he was having seizures, and had two blood transfusions. His stomach was endoscoped, and the doctor said that it was adenocarcinoma of the pylorus. They put him on Carafate and Pepcid. I thought he was going to die…..thought about surgery, but decided not to.Now, two weeks later, he is like his old self (still giving him Carafate and Pepcid…..bland diet…..no more black stools)…..I am hoping maybe he doesn't have cancer after all……If bleeding is controlled with this tumor, what should I be looking for? Do you think maybe they were wrong?

the bleeding has evidently stopped and he is feeling much better..If the vet did a biopsy, he would know if there was cancer, but as a surgical nurse, I know it is often, if not usually hard to tell by sight alone..Just keep praying for him, and add sea grass to his diet..You can get kelp capsules at your health food store or most drug stores..

Does he have a black bubble growing on him? If so, yes he has cancer. But.. my friends german shepard was 20 years old and it never moved around so they put it to sleep. Its fur was white and light blue…

If you can afford it, have your dog examined by a veterinary oncologist. It will give you a definite answer and you can discuss a course of action whatever the outcome. My German shepherd is six years old and was diagnosed a few weeks ago with transitional cell carcinoma in his urethra. I am blessed with supportive people at home and work. We are treating his cancer in several ways, and he is doing well.I hope your news is good, and I hope your dog continues to feel like his old self. Good luck!
