The other night I had excrutiating stomach cramps. I felt like I had gas too but I couldn’t pass it. I had nausea and vomitted once (that made the cramps better). I did not have diarrhea. The cramps started out mild and progressed to very bad within two hours and lasted about 3 hours after that. This happened once before a year ago and I went to the ER thinking it was my appendix. After being tested for a ct scan for appendix and ovaries, the ER doc sent me home with a diagnosis of cramps with no named cause and a prescription of bentyl. I had some pills left so I took one and I guess it helped becuase my cramps went away. This was two nights ago. I have only had mild cramps (like a dull pain that moves around, not always in the same place) If the cramps come back I plan on making an appointment. I want to ask the doc all the right questions. Does it sound like it could be IBS so I can inquire about it?

Last night around 9:00am, I started having a stomach ache. It wasn’t bad just like regular stomach discofort. I thought it could be sour stomach so I took an antacid. Around, 11:00 the cramps started to get very bad and I could not sleep. About two hours later, I decided to take a bentyl ( I was prescribed this last year when I went to the ER for bad cramps I thought was appedicitis. But, I was sent home with just a diagnosis of stomach cramps which is why I decided not to go to the ER last night and wait to see how I felt in the moring) The bentyl started working but I had nausea and ended up vomiting. After I vomited the cramps started going away. I feel fine this morning my stomach aches a little but I think it is because it is empty. In addition to the cramps, I had nausea, chills, no fever though, the urge to pass gas but couldn’t. Any ideas what it could be. I feel good now so I wait till tomoorow to see if I should go to the doctor.

I just got a prescription for Bentyl for IBS. I’ve taken Zantac for years for acid reflux. I know that Bentyl is, in part, an antacid, and my mom told me not to take my Zantac while I’m on the Bentyl (3x a day for 3 days, then 2x a day for 2 weeks). My doctor never said anything about it. My guts are still spasming and I have awful heartburn. Can I take the Zantac, or should I just give the Bentyl time?

i have ibs and right now my intestines feel like they are being pulled apart there is discomfort and mild pain i have bentyl but i dont think its helping has this happened to you and what should i do?

So my doctor thinks that i have irritable bowel syndrome and im one a few pills (i take fiber choice twice a day, bentyl 4 times a day, hyoscyamine 1 a day, and he just put me on something else that i havent taken yet ((pamelor)) and my mom looked up pamelor and she said its for SYCODICK ppl ((he told me its for depression and he seems to think that the pamelor is going to help the crapping i get in my stomach wut do u think??? do u think that is is b/s or is it just me and my mom? lol )) and the pills dont seem to be doing anything (i have been on them a few month or so also but yea i was just wondering if you have (ibs) wut meds are u taking?? and do they seem to work for u?? cuz im gettin really sick of all this pain its unbareable!!

I suffer from this and I was precribed Tofranil for it by my OBGYN (also has helped me with my anxiaty and depression) and that heleped immensly, My attacks went from 15 a month to 1 or 2 a month. Then my pills ran out an since I am being treated now by a gastralogist she doesnt prescribe Tofronil she put me on Bentyl. I’m actually having more pains on this pill than if I was on any medication at all. Has anyone else suffered from this side effect of Bentyl? Are there any other medications out there for IBS with diarreah?

I don't know how to reply to questions i ask after input as been done. So i figure i would do this way.I take Aciphex 25mg,Bentyl 10mg,levothyroid 1.75, ra asprin 81,rquip .3mg, synthroid,jsut started cymbalta 30 mg and gastro doc gave me xanax last week to try and calm things down. he is the one recommended to take zantac too. i don't work i had a stroke and pacemaker put in last year. Also on elavil, most are for stomach and hormones and thyroids. meds keep adding up. I do sit alot but i am up and down alot. this is my first time on this board. i like your idea on my diet i was thinking that too.thanks for asking more about it.

i have had test done i have ibs and colitis i have become weak wondering if there is anything else i can do to help contol it sometimes i have hunger pains in my stoamch real bad and nauseau and vomiting. i also take phengran and had colonscopy and endoscopy.
