Does anyone know if there is an OTC version of Sucralfate or Carafate?
This is for a dog with reoccuring stomach issues. Looking to find a more affordable alternative than going to the vets everytime for a prescription.

I am a pet owner to two very sweet 20 week old female kittens. One of them has recently licked or rubbed up against my husband’s work boots which were covered with lime sulphur dust. It has been a day and a half. In that time she has gone from from a spunky, talkative, loving, playful little thing, to a kitten who is so very tired or depressed, vomiting (first white foam, then yellow bile).I took her to the vet this morning. The doctor did some kind of flushing, where there was a bump of fluid on her back that was eventually absorbed into her. And he gave me Carafate, 2 times daily for 2 days. It’s supposed to sooth her stomach. We don’t want to lose her. Is there anything, anything at all that I can do more for her?She has lost weight and right now weighs 4.37 pounds. She isn’t eating, just alittle water and since there are two kittens, I cannot tell if she has gone to the bathroom at all. I have been watching her like crazy.I checked online for any and all info, but I can’t find anything on ingesting lime sulphur.I emailed the ASPCA poison control about it, but have not heard back. I cannot afford to call and speak with them at the moment, as they charge 55.00 per call.Is there anyone here that might know something, anything at all???I just need to know if this is fatal, is there a slim chance she can get through this and if so, how can I help her do so.Thank you so much for your time. It is much appreciated.

If someone is sick from coming off opiates, will carafate suspension liquid help them?
I’ve been on protonix for 2 years now. I recently had swallowing pain and my doc gave me carafate to take for two weeks (4 days into it). And now he wants me to try Librax for two weeks for weak esophageal muscles. Has anyone had experience being on all these at the same time?
My doctor prescribed Reglan for me for vomiting and a slow stomach. I’m also on Carafate for an ulcer and Zegerid for reflux. I was given the Reglan in the hospital but it was in an IV and I can remember it made me really jittery and I couldn’t sleep. Is this the kind of side effect that goes away with time?
My poor baby has been vomiting for a while now. I took her to the vet and the first time we tried giving her one medication. It didn’t stop the vomiting so I took her back. He did a CBC (all of which came back fine) and a baruim series with XRay. It showed a constricted area of the intestines. It isn’t a complete blockage. So while he confers with his associate he has put her on an antibiotic to prevent secondary infection, carafate suspension and Laxatone. He also suggested I feed her Purina Veterinary Diet EN several times a day in small quantities. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with either the medications, the problem itself or the food. Also if you do use the food could you tell me where you found it the cheapest. I have been checking into several online pet supply stores and the cheapest is 17 a case with 10 shipping and handling. Thank you for your help.
The doc ruled out stones or kidney problems so we are treating an ulcer for a month on carafate before doing a scope. I suffered through this for over a year and I let it go to far. There were times when I would get so nauseated I just didnt want to live anymore. This carafate is helping, but I still have my sick nights. I am asking for people to help relate with. Does this carafate work well? How long does it usually take to heal an ulcer? Im in my late 20’s and ulcers already(gotta thank my 3 kids)
We received a visual inspection diagnosis 2 weeks ago. They scoped the stomach, said it appears to be adenocarcinoma of the pylorus. They took biopsies, but te results were inconclusive. Would the endoscopist really be able to have a good feel for the diagnosis? The area had been bleeding….tarry stools, vomiting undigested blood, weakness, SEVERE anemia. Dog received two transfusions. He is now on Carafate and Pepcid several times a day. He seems to be making a miraculous recovery. Gums are now pink, he is eating and feeling well…..What is the deal? Maybe he doesn't have cancer after all. OR are the medications stopping the bleeding, giving him more time?He is 14…..what if the Dr. made a mistake, and it is not cancer?I now need to know how long do I keep him on these medications….I am afraid to stop them, for maybe the bleeding and anemia will return…
