I have just been prescribed Protonix to help with my acid reflux and ulcers. The only problem is, there is no generic to this drug and I do not have any insurance. Could someone tell me how I can get this medicine cheap or a program for uninsured people who require these medicines to live a normal life? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance.

I take protonix. It is used to treat acid reflux or GERD. It works by reducing the amount of stomach acid your body produces.

Well, they are both used for heartburn. I don’t know how they really compare, but I do know that for a lot of people Protonix is way too expensive. My pharmacist (I work at a pharmacy) always tells people complaining about the price to try Prilosec OTC and they will usually stick with it. You should call a pharmacy or your doctors office for more information though.

I used to get stomach ulcers and acid reflux and gastritis all the time, back when I was in college. I had x-rays taken of my stomach and remember laying on my bed in teh fetal position more often than not. I was 18 at the time, in the best shape of my life (aside from the digestive problems) but the pain killed me. I took malox and was on nexium (or what ever the fad pill of the day was) and they helped me get on with life. But they never addressed the reason/cause of why I was getting the problems, so they all kept coming back. It didn’t matter what I ate, even the bland diet I tried didn’t help. Antibiotics did nothing. I drank WATER like a fish, still nothing.Long story short, my friend turned me onto Chiropractic and after a year or so of care, I have never had another episode in my life. I’m thirty now. During the course of the year of care, I slowly weened myself off of all medication, prescription and over the counter alike. Now that I am a Chiropractor, I have helped many a patient with similar problems. It works every time. Click on my bio and email me, i’ll help you find someone in your area who can help you.In the meantime, go to your local health food store and buy a bottle of liquid Aloe Vera. Take about a shot a day. I used to but it in one liter bottles and fill the cap, mix it with water (NOT JUICE) and drink it. It will help soothe your throat and stomach and begin aiding your body in HEALING what damage has occured in those areas due to the stomach acid.Your body heals itself everyday, if you doubt it, give yourself a paper cut and watch what happens over the next couple of weeks. But for it to do so, you need to give it proper time and “motivation.”I’ll be waiting to hear from you….

I don’t have insurence to pay for the Proton Pum Inhibitor (Protonix) I need. I have bad pain in my esophagus at night without it.Yes I know all about how I could get cancer in my esophagus.I just wondered if there was a treatment I could get a the health supplement store for acid reflux.

Yes you can – they work in completely different ways and shouldn’t effect one another. Have you been taking Protonix every day? It’s not a drug you can just take as needed – it doesn’t work properly if it’s not taken every day. You may want to try a different drug like Zantac or Pepcid (both of which are available over the counter – ask your pharmacist fot the generic version which will save you $$$). The only interaction for papaya listed in the Pharmacist’s Letter Natural Database (which you have to subscribe to to view) is warfarin/Coumadin. It should be fine with Protonix. Two more tips:-You may want to try a mixed enzyme supplement (one with bromelain from pineapple, etc.) if the papaya alone doesn’t help.-Whether the Protonix is for GERD or for ulcers, if you’re not getting relief soon, you need to go back to your doc – you might have to have a scope or some other tests (like H Pylori) run to rule out other issues.

I’ve had many tests and know this isn’t heart related. Are there any home remedies?
