Can anyone tell me if there is a generic version of an acid blocker drug like Nexium or Protonix?
I may sign up for insurance that only pays for generics but I take Protonix to block my stomah acid producton.

I have mitro valve prolapse regurgatation,i take bp medication and protonix for heartburn,i'm wanting to go to college but i get anxiety and panic attacks..
David Hascall say:
Be cautious with herbal remedies because there may be interaction with your current medication. Try yoga or meditative breathing. When you feel your heart start to race, take deep, slow breaths. Think about only one thing, such as relaxing your muscles. Feel your body relax and calm. Then go about your day. This will take practice, so start now and you may be ready to take a summer session at college. Also, don't let things pile up. The more you have to do the more stressed you are. Start now and take care of the things you have been avoiding or ignoring.Start school slowly, have a plan and practice. If you want to get therapy to find the source of your problems then you can, but if you want to deal with the panic, remember you can control the physical responses that trigger the attack.Best wishes to you.
Deborah Sherman say:
Try doing something routine -wash dishes, do laundry, brush teeth, take a bath or shower.Tell yourself that the attacks will pass because they do.Now,hike yourself to an MD and get something for them.
George Cone say:
"CALMS" or "CALMS FORTE" are great for reducing anxiety without side effects. You can find this at a health food or drug store (like Osco's or Walgreen's).
Anthony Pelletier say:
there is a chinese herbal formula called Gui pi tang which is good, but you should get a consultation with a traditional chinese medicine practitioner to make sure it is appropriate. usually costs about $30 for a consultation and $7 per week for the herbal formula

Clare Taylor say:
To reduce side effects of PANTOPRAZOLE (PROTONIX®), be sure to swallow the tablets whole with a drink of water (8 oz); do not crush, break, or chew. Take your doses at regular intervals. In addition, avoid frequent use of drinks with caffeine or alcohol, smoke, and illegal drugs. Some of the more severe side effects of PROTONIX® that require for you to contact your prescriber or health care professional are listed at DrugDigest.org. And these are:
• fever or sore throat
• redness, blistering, peeling or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth
• skin rash, itching
• unusual bleeding or bruising
• unusual weakness or tiredness
• yellowing of the eyes or skin Less serious side effects are side effects that usually do not require medical attention, but it is recommended that you report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome.
These are:
• diarrhea
• dizziness
• dry skin
• headache
• nausea/vomiting
• stomach pain or gas
• tirednessBoth of these medicines, RABEPRAZOLE (ACIPHEX™) and PANTOPRAZOLE (PROTONIX®), prevents the production of acid in the stomach. Therefore the side effects are the same.Hope this answers your question,
