Open questions about acidity & anti-acidity pills

Am i being paroniod?

I was due mon the 4th and nothing has happened. no labor not even dilating or effacing. my OB wants to induce with cytotec and i did some searching on this pill and it is for gastric ulcers and is not recommended for pregnant women and it carries a high risk of fatality for mom and baby.. but my question is am i being paronoid about this for no reason? my OB wouldnt do anything to us that would kill me right?

You did a great job researching the pill that she offered. I wouldn't be rude & insult her practice, but I would just tell her that you want to try to wait it out for a while. Your not being paranoid, your being smart. Definitly think this through & talk to your husband (boyfriend, or patner) about this also.Your due date was only a couple of days ago so it's not like it is urgent to get this baby out – you know? Most doctors don't even consider inducing labour until around 2 weeks after the due date. Baby your baby isn't ready to come out yet.Have a great night and congratulations on (almost) being a Mommy!

okayyyyyy. if its high risk would you trust anyone but yourself with your life. get a second opinion.

The OB shouldn't do anything harmful, but let him/her know that you are concerned about using it, and talk to him about the pill and how it works, complications it may have, etc. and if you still are unsure about it, tell the OB you'd like to be induced a different way. I'd induce before getting a c-section, that's a major surgery, longer recovery time etc. If you want to be induced, it's your choice. Most doctors won't let you opt for a c-sections unless it's medically necessary anyways

i am jsut a guy but ive researched this alot it is normal to be paranoid and thats probably what u are, everything is new to u since i am assuming you havent been pregnant before, its new and u are not gonna know what all the stuff that is going on is, ull freak out about every little change but they wont do anyhting that will kill you they know wat they are doing.

You were only due on the 4th. Honey do not worry about it, my first son was 2 1/2 weeks late the little bugger. I think you should wait it out a little longer, your only a couple days over due. It's your body, and if there is nothing physically wrong with you then it's your decision not to be induced. BUT…..no I don't think your OB is trying to kill you. After the two weeks I was over due, then by OB induced me, but that's only because my baby was getting bigger than I was and he was scared of me getting diabetes. Baby will tell YOU when it's time to come out, don't worry about it your fine.

  6. Carey Hudson Says:

Are you sure that is the right drug name? Pitocin maybe? You are not that long over due. Relax, you will be fine.

  7. Inez Ellison Says:

I would find a different doctor. That is a dangerous drug to use. Also a week or two late is ok. I would wait and see. Sometimes passionate and hot sex can help. No joke. And it won't hurt the baby.

  8. Mohamed Cooper Says:

I'm totally paranoid about all things when it comes to my baby and it's normal to be so. The best thing to do is to show the research to your doctor and explain your concerns. The doctor for the most part will do what is best for you and your baby (especially with all the malpractice issues that these doctors have to deal with.) Your doctor wants you to feel comfortable with your pregnancy and will most always go with your decision. Just check your sources for research, I've gotten some bad research before thinking it was from a professional source.

  9. Gilberto Battle Says:

get a second opinion. maybe their is an alternative to that medicine. if you don't feel comfortable raise the question. good thing you did research. you will have your baby soon enough.good luck god bless.

  10. Kevin Alford Says:

your doc won't do anything that brings you and baby n danger i was induced with that and many other women and it's safe good luck and congrats and have you researched the epidural it can cause problems too but many people have used it and came out alive

  11. Gerard Guy Says:

If you don't feel comfortable with that pill don't use it. There are other (safer) ways to induce. And if your OB insists find a new one. It's natural to be nervous when you are about to give birth and if he doesn't understand that then he is a lousy OB.

  12. Galen Conner Says:

No I would not do it. If you have to be induced, I would ask to be put in the hospital with a cream inserted called cervadell (spelling?) that will help to thin your cervix. Then they can start you on patocin (spelling?) the next morning. That is the way I have always heard it to be done.

  13. Duane Mercado Says:

I think if you are worried about it talk to your doctor, or go to the Labor and Delivery and talk to the on call Doctor there and see it isn't normal for use. If the other Doctor says no then tell your doctor to try something else. the Doc can Strep your membranes and I am sure there are other ways. DO NOT DO SOMETHING YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE ABOUT WITHOUT A SECOND OPINION. Good luck.

  14. Alta Nichols Says:

I am wondering if you have the wrong name, cause if it is what I am thinking about it is the pill that they place inside the uterus to induce labor. Whatever the case may be though, you need to just talk to your doctor and let he/she know of your concerns. And between the 2 of you I am sure there is something that will work that you both are comfortable with. Good Luck

  15. Miguel Tillman Says:

Try reading this website. Maybe it will helphttp://www.childbirthsolutions.com/artic…If your not comfortable with this drug ask your OB about Pitocin. Thats what my first child was induced with.http://www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnan…There is some info on Pitocin.Good Luck!!!

  16. Reed Le Says:

If you and the baby are checking out as healthy, just wait a bit. You're only 2 days after your due date right now. Predicting a due date is not an exact science. They'll continue to monitor your health and that of the baby. DO NOT INDUCE — schedule a C-section. Trust me on this one.P.S. It never hurts to get a second and even third opinion — go see at least one other OB.

  17. Elliot Booker Says:

NO, not paranoid just a concerned Mommy =) I didn't take any drugs that the MD's offered. I signed a waiver. But hey – whatever works for U! But myself – I didn't want to take any drugs that had possible side effects to me/the baby!!

  18. Patrick Bauer Says:

aw its ok…your not even that over due , especially if this is your first baby….trust me…your ob is not going to put you in any danger…just ask her about that drug… the drugs that say not reccomended for pregnant women are because the dont want to retard babys growth , which your baby is full term..and most are ok after 1st trimester Good Luck! Ps…get some sleep while you can.

  19. Calvin Vaughn Says:

Simply share your concerns with your OB and work something out. Also many babies are simply overdue. Good luck!

  20. Jayne Nixon Says:

maybe you misunderstood your dr there is not a pill to induce labor as far as i know and i have 6 kids there is pitocin and it is put in an i v to induce labor.

  21. Ali Copeland Says:

i was induced with cytotec without problems. they usually take a 1/4 of pill and insert it into your vagina behind the cervix. the pill is used to thin out your cervix to help induce labor. you will be continuously monitored. the cytotec doesn't work like the pit does. your body will naturally begin to have contractions as your cervix begins to thin and pull up towards your uterus. if are still having concerns the best thing to do is sit your MD down and discuss the problems you think might happen when given this drug. chances have that your doctor has used this system before to induce labor (i did not go into active labor until i had a total of two doses of cytotec which took about 8-9 hours)
