What’s the difference between prilosec and prevacid.?
They are both in the same class of drug, called Proton Pump Inhibitors. They both work in pretty much the same way. Differences, one is purple, the other is pink/black (30mg). Prilosec is available in generic (omeprazole) and over-the-counter, where Prevacid still has its patent and is only available as a prescription. Insurance will probably pay for the Prevacid. Many insurance companies won’t pay for anything that is over-the-counter.

Both inhibit acid production, like Nexium myself–works great!
