Any known bad out comes to individuals using Reglan to surpress vomiting?

My girlfriend was just prescribed this drug to surpress her vomiting, she got nervous when she learned about some of the side effects like muscle stiffness and inability to move, that can be reversed with benadril. Is this true? Is anyone else using this? Need info.

Yes, that is a side effect of reglan, and it can happen. It is rare though, and is called an "extrapyramidal" side effect. The reason it happens is because of some of the dopaminergic effects of the reglan. Some of them happen right away (if they happen) and some happen after weeks on the medicine (if they happen). This is not an allergy. The reason that benadryl works to reverse the effects is because of the side effects of benadryl (the same ones that make your mouth a little dry) that counteract the side effects of the reglan. There are other anti-nausea medicines that can have similar side-effects. They are not permanent though, and can be reversed when recognized.

Why is your GF vomiting? Yes, Reglan has those side effects, but taking Benadryl would worsen some of the other side effects, such as sleepiness. If she is worried about the side effects of Reglan, she should ask her MD to prescribe other drugs that act agaisnt vomiting. You can try typing in Reglan in a search engine to check out more other info about Reglan.
