BEEN THERE!! My son was in the childrens hospital for 1 week and the discovered he hade severe GERD. DO NOT PUT HIM IN A SWING…. This causes the reflux to be worse because of the motion. Continue on the Zantac but get his ears checked. I know it sounds weird, but after 2 months of the doctors telling me to "let the meds work" I took him to another Dr. who told me to go to a ear Dr. Ended up he had severe ear infection from birth which they just recently found out has a DIRECT link to Gerd… He had tubes put in at 3 months and was FINE ever since surgery.. No more problems, Just think about taking him in. I hate to see any baby suffer this way. I hate to see u suffer too, I know how terrible it is.. Good Luck to you and keep me posted. qteepie999@yahoo.com

yes my lil girl has the same thing she is now 4 Mons on Sept 11! but let me tell you its hard! she was on raglan to but i stop giving it to her and she started off on zantac when she went to her first doc visit after being born! the reason i am not giving her any thing at this time is cause nothing is working for her and i felt like i was just giving her meds for no reason and it would make her act weird not her self and she would not play and just sleep!so she is not on any thing for it now! but just be open about it! but i think the meds work but makes the baby act weird! my Lil girl took zantac for 3 weeks nothing! then reglan for Mons and nothing so i guess it diff for diff kids! hope i have help!

my aunt had this problem with her daughter she would give her a little bit of whole milk (it settles it down a little) Lay him in his car seat or in a swing so he is at a 45* angle it will help keep it down

If you are not already, keep him upright as much as possible. Have him sleep in an upright position (swing, bouncy chair). Also, make sure he is upright for at least 30 mins after a feeding. He should grow out of it somewhere between the 3-6 mth mark so just be patient and know that an end is in sight.

Bless his little heart. I have never known anyone to have a baby with this. I know my dad has it and once he eats he has to stay up for a few hours or he can't sleep. I know you said not to respond if I didn't have an infant with this, but… have you tried to have him sleeping upright, like maybe in his swing? If you just feed him after he wakes up. Gosh, this would be so hard because he is so tiny. And being a baby you have to be so careful what to feed him. I read something about lemonaid. But definatly ask your doctor before you give him anything. I am praying for you.

maybe you should burp him more after feeding or at least keep his head elevated, higher than the stomach…also…one cause of babies throwing up is overfeeding…try giving him a little at a time…then in try to observe if he can take more the following feed…i am not a doctor but these are some suggestions that i asked my friend who's baby was constantly throwing up after almost every feed…hope this helps…also…try asking your doctor for a different milk formula…nowadays, they have something specially for these types of babies…

Is your baby breast or formula fed?

I work in NICU and this is one of the most frustrating problems with infants. Boys are affected 3 times more than girls. You can try several different things, maybe one will work. Try feeding more frequent smaller feedings. Try elevating the head of his bed slightly. You can also try thickening his feedings. We use to use rice cereal but recently started using Thick It. You can get it at any pharmacy. Just use a sprinkle, as it gets very thick. If he is breast feed, burp often. There is also special formula for GER on the market. Also he may need a higher calorie formula, it requires less volume but provides enough calories to gain weight. Reglan may or may not work. Previcid will help with the irritation of the esophagus. You might also suggest a pH study to see how severe and often this happens. Last resort is surgery. It's called a fundoplycation. They actually wrap the esophagus around the trachea to prevent GER. Hope this helps…But it is true he will grow out of it. Usually by 10 pounds. But if he is not gaining weight it is cause for concern.

My son threw up everytime I nursed him. It got so bad that I stopped dressing the both of us because it was a waste of time. He wore his diapers, I wore underwear. he cried all day, and he and I were miserable.Today, he is an eight year old boy who is happy and healthy. He still avoids certain foods, and he gets tummy aches once in a while. I never though he would grow out of it, but he did.My advice to you is to try and be patient, but if you feel your son is in danger, keep going back to the doctor. He needs to be hydrated and nourished, and if it takes you being a "bother" to the doctor, so what? YOu and the baby should be comfortable with the treatment.
