Can you mix liquid zantac with water or formula?

The doctor has my son on Zantac twice a day for acid reflux. It has a very strong mint smell. When I give it to him is seems like he spits more of it out than he is getting. Does anyone know if you can mix it with water or formula or have any ideas on getting him to take it easier?

I am a Pharmacy Technician and yes Zantac is very unappealing you can add it to formula but put in a small amount of it and make sure they take the enitre thing. They do have flavorings for liquid medications but because Zantac is so bitter and strongly unappealing it is hard to mask the taste of it no matter what flavor you try. I have played around with all the flavors in it at work and the bitter minty taste still comes out in it. If your baby is old enough to have solid foods you could put it in a little bit of applesauce also, but still make sure he takes the full amout that you put it in. Good Luck and hopefully he won't have to take it that long. :)

Yes, you can mix Zantac with formula. In my 5 years of baby nurse experience I have frequently mixed the dose of Zantac with a half oz. of formula in a separate bottle. This is fed first, 20 minutes before the full feeding for maximum effectiveness. It is acceptable to give immediately before feeding the full feeding. I have also found that grape flavor is more accepted by most infants.

my little girl is the same way. What i do is place the dropper toward the back of your sons toung and dispense it very slowly. putting the dropper that far back will leave him no choice but to swallow. but remember SLOW!!
